Roads are conduits of development: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stressed the need to accelerate pace of development with a view to making Madhya Pradesh a pioneer state in the country. Shri Chouhan was laying foundation stone of Rewa-Hanumana and Mangawan-Chakghat four-lane roads costing Rs. 1052 crore at Teonthar tahsil of Rewa district today. These roads are being constructed under DVFOT scheme. Shri Chouhan said that roads, power and water are conduits of prosperity and the State Government is taking special initiatives towards this objective.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the State Government has implemented a number of welfare schemes for every section of society. Referring to recently launched Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Free Medicine Distribution Scheme, Shri Chouhan said that high quality medicines will be made available to all sections of society. The Chief Minister inaugurated a bridge constructed over Tamas river at a cost of Rs. 15 crore 27 lakh. With this, National Highway 27 has been directly linked with Dabhora-Jawa and Chill-Chak Shankargarh Roads. Besides this, Jawa, Chilla, Panwar, Dabhora and other villages have also been directly linked with Teonthar tahsil headquarters.
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he has brought gifts worth over Rs. 1000 crore for Rewa. A network of roads is being laid in Vindhya region. He said that earlier travellers used to face difficulties since Allahabad to Rewa National Highway had developed potholes and its quality was not good. But now these difficulties will be removed. Shri Chouhan said that a lift irrigation project has been sanctioned in Teonthar. The project to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 220 crore will irrigate 28 thousand acres of land. A 73 kilometre long canal will be constructed from left bank canal of Bansagar project upto Jawa and Teonthar, which will irrigate 40 thousand hectare area benefiting farmers of 269 villages. Similarly, a 44 kilometer long canal will be constructed from the right bank which will irrigate seven thousand hectares. Both the canals will cost Rs. 566 crore. He said that Rs. 100 per quintal bonus will be given on procurement of wheat and paddy on support price. Shri Chouhan said that he will urge the Union Government to fix minimum support price of wheat as Rs. 1600 per quintal.
The Chief Minister assured to get demands of local people examined. Shri Chouhan announced to sanction Rs. three crore in lump sum for infrastructure development in Teonthar, sanction drinking water schemes for Teonthar and Chakghat and start post-graduate classes in Teonthar College from next session. He distributed benefits to beneficiaries of various schemes as a token at Antyodaya Mela and land pattas to beneficiaries of the Forest Rights Act.
Public Works Minister Shri Nagendra Singh, Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Seed Development Corporation Chairman Shri Kamleshwar Singh, Zila Panchayat Chairperson Smt. Maya Singh, MLA Shri Nagendra Singh Gurh, Shri Laxman Tiwari and Shri Abhay Mishra, people’s representatives, officers and a large number of local people were present on the occasion.
