Quick action to be taken on political parties’ complaints

Bhopal: Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind has assured representatives of 6 recognised political parties that quick action is being taken on complaints received by him. He informed that complaints regarding violation of model code of conduct and government officers and employees are also being disposed of at the earliest.

Shri Govind informed that a total of 542 complaints have been received against government officers and employees so far. Of these, 166 complaints have been received from the Election Commission 2, 142 from political parties and 246 other complaints. Among political parties, AAP has registered 12 complaints, BJP 47, Congress 71, BSP 7, Samajwadi Party, and Samata Party, RPI and Lok Janshakti Party have registered one complaint each. Action on these complaints is being taken at various levels. Similarly, Indian National Congress has registered 37 complaints regarding model code of conduct and Bharatiya Janata Party 10. Of these, 16 complaints of Congress and 7 of BJP have been disposed of.

Shri Govind apprised political parties about directives received from the commission recently and informed them about election-related material, CD of auxiliary polling booths, number of electorate for the first and second phases, list of telephone numbers of single window and control room and telephone numbers of general election observers. He informed that Deputy Election Commissioners Shri S.S. Brahma and Dr. Naseem Zaidi will chair a review meeting pertaining to elections at Bhopal on March 30. Earlier, they will also meet 3 representatives each of 6 recognised political parties.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shri V.L. Kanta Rao, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri S.S. Bansal, Shri Rajaram of Bahujan Samaj Party, Shri S.S. Lodha of BJP, advocate Shri Ravi Kishan and Shri S.S. Uppal of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri J.P. Dhanpiya of Indian National Congress, Shri Shailendra Shelly of CPI etc were present on the occasion.
