PM dedicates Shaurya Smarak – pilgrim centre of bravery and valour

Bhopal. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the pilgrim centre of bravery and valour Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal. He paid tributes to martyrs sacrificed for the country. Governor Shri OP Kohli, chief minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and union defence minister Shri Manohar Parikar were present on the occasion.

The prime minister dedicated 62 feet tall Shorya Stambh, constructed there to uphold the immortal memory of the martyrs. He lit the flame in the honour of the martyrs through holographic flame. The Prime Minister, the Governor, the Chief Minister and the union defence minister paid tributes to martyrs by offering wreaths at the eternal flames.

The Prime Minister visited the Shourya Vithi (the gallery of valour) at the smarak. The chief minister Shri Chouhan informed PM about Shaurya Smarak, pictures and different equipment to be used by armed forces.

The gallery thematically displays sacrifice of the martyrs and their bravery. Picturisation has been made in it from definition of valour given in Mahabharat to prehistoric time and Kargil war of 1999. Patriotic poems of Hindi poets too have been displayed. The pictures of the presidents and ex-presidents, as chief of all three forces, have been displayed. Portrays of chiefs of Army, Navy and Airforce, flags of different regiments, history of the national flag tricolour and live visual presentation (diorama) have been put in the gallery.

The live presentation has been made on Indo-Pak partition of 1947, the Sino-India war of 1962, wars between India and Pakistan in 1965, 1971 and Kargil war of 1999 and peace time activities of the Army in the gallery. The picturisation of the Armed forces deployed in Siachen at zero degree temperature is a unique presentation. Thematic paintings, underling the gallantry stories of soldiers awarded Paramveer Chakra and Mahaveer Chakra automatically draw attractions of visitors. Army medals, warships and tanks and rifles have been displayed in the gallery.

On the occasion of dedication of Shaurya Samarak, Legislative Assembly speaker Dr Seetasharan Sharma, Union Minister for Rural development and Panchayat Raj Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, state minister for urban development and housing Smt. Maya Singh, minister for home Shri Bhupendra Singh, minister of state for tourism and culture Shri Surendra Patwa, Member of Parliament Shri Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, Chief Secretary Shri Antony deSa, principal secretary culture Shri Manoj Shrivastava, principal secretary Urban development Shri Malay Shrivastava and army officers were present.
