Phase-wise Gram Sabhas in state from August 15

Bhopal : Phased-wise Gram Sabhas will be held in the state from August 15 at all the Gram Panchayats. Besides local issues, the Gram Sabhas will also discuss 18 various important issues. Information about holding Gram Sabha will be displayed on notice boards of all the Gram Panchayats and important public places. Besides, information about Gram Sabha will also be publicised through public announcement system.
The Gram Sabhas will begin with throwing light on the great persons who contributed to the country’s independence. Members of Village Health & Sanitation Committees will also actively participate in the Gram Sabha, which will discuss plantation, mid-day meal, rural health & sanitation policies, vaccination and availability of health workers. Social audit of works under MNREGA and departmental programmes and schemes will be undertaken. Information about Madhya Pradesh Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act will be given to villagers. Hariyali Chunari and Narmada Parikrama Path development will come up for discussion. Giving information about progress of Total Sanitation Campaign, villagers will be motivated for construction of toilets. Villagers will be administered oath to free village from the curse of open area defecation. Besides creating awareness about Maryada Abhiyan, people will be motivated to safeguard women’s modesty.

A pledge will also be administered at Gram Sabha to free rural areas from malnutrition and the process of bringing children below six years of age, especially malnourished ones, to Anganwadi centre daily will be monitored. Information will be given about mid-day meal being provided to children studying in government and aided primary and middle schools. Availability of clean drinking water and regular supply will be reviewed. Works pertaining to social security pension, Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension and other social security schemes will be undertaken. Rural Housing Scheme will be discussed and people will be motivated to take advantage of Mukhyamantri Awas Mission. List of houseless BPL families will be read out at the Gram Sabha, which will also discuss progress and quality of work of CC roads being constructed in villages under Panch Parmeshwar Yojna.

Awareness will also be created among villagers about School Chalen Hum Abhiyan. Quality of education and teaching as per academic calendar in village schools will also be discussed. Postings of teachers on sanctioned posts in schools, teachers’ regular attendance and appointment of guest teacher as per requirement will also come up for discussion. It will be informed at Gram Sabha how many inspections of schools have been undertaken by Education Committee. Awareness will be created about regular distribution and quality of nutritious diet at Anganwadi centres.

Anganwadi workers and assistants, health workers, hand-pump mechanics, operators of ration shops, representative of agency responsible for mid-day meal and employees of Agriculture, Horticulture and Fisheries department and dairy operators will also be present at Gram Sabhas.
