Permanent service rules to be framed for daily wagers: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that permanent service rules will be framed for daily wagers. The Water Resources Department will be restructured keeping in view future requirements in the year 2020. Shri Chouhan was speaking at a function at Samanvaya Bhavan here where the Water Resources Department’s Excellent Service Awards were distributed.
The Water Resources Department had organised this function to bestow prizes on engineers and employees putting in excellent efforts. The Chief Minister gave away certificate of excellence and trophies to all the award wining engineers, officers and employees.
Rs. 50 thousand prize each was given to ten engineers at the state-level, Rs. 25 thousand each to 42 engineers of basin-level and Rs. 10 thousand cash prize each and certificates were handed over to 255 field-level engineers. In all, 307 engineers/employees were given prizes.
The Chief Minister said that the credit for unprecedented achievement made by the state in the agriculture sector goes to outstanding performance of the Water Resources Department. He exhorted the engineers to work in the larger interests of farmers with positive frame of mind. The State Government will give utmost protection and promotion to them. State’s development cannot come to a halt now. He said that service to the state’s citizens and farmers is the foremost duty. Life should be meaningful and purposeful in every stage. He said that achievements can be made only through firm determination and sensitivity.
Describing the Water Resources Department as the backbone of development, he said that foundation of Narmada-Kshipra Link Project will be laid shortly. Shri Chouhan said that IT-enabled services like e-tendering,
e-measuring and e-payment have brought about administrative and financial transparency.
Water Resources Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya said that a target has been set to irrigate 25 lakh hectare area in the state in next four years. He said that this target will be achieved on the strength of engineers’ self-confidence, capacity and talents.
Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri R.S. Julaniya threw light on the department’s strategies. He informed that a target has been set to irrigate 21 lakh hectare area the next year. The Chief Minister released a souvenir “Utkrasht Karya”. Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Shri Rajneesh Vaish, World Bank Project Director Shri Manish Singh, Engineer-in-Chief Water Resources Shri M.G. Chaube and engineers of various basins were present on the occasion.
