Pay special attention to quality in road construction works

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation will construct railway over-bridges under PPP mode with a view to expediting work. The Corporation will construct 35 railway over-bridges. Funds for construction of the over-bridges will be provided under PPP mode and the Union Government’s viability gap fund. This information was given at a meeting of Board of Directors of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today. At the meeting, a cheque for Rs. 4 crore towards dividend was presented to the Chief Minister by the corporation. It is the fifth dividend given by the corporation.
Public Works Minister Shri Nagendra Singh and Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram were also present on the occasion.
Stressing the need to pay special attention to quality and early completion of road construction works, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed to complete construction of Rewa bypass at the earliest.
It was informed at the meeting that decision to construct railway over-bridges has been taken in view of delay in release of railway’s share and other formalities. In the state, 35 places have been identified for construction of railway over-bridges. Currently, repair works are underway on Jabalpur-Bhopal, Biaora-Rajgarh, Jabalpur-Mandla-Chhilpi and National Highway No. 78 Katni-Shahdol-Anuppur roads. Sanction under BOT has been given for development of 15 roads. Works for widening and reconstruction of roads are being carried out with loan from the Asian Development Bank. Guna-Ashok Nagar-Isagarh Road is being built on BOT basis. The Badnawar-Thandla Road is being constructed under OMT mode. A modern guest house “Madhya Lok” will be constructed by the corporation for guests of Madhya Pradesh at Washi in Navi Mumbai.
Similarly, construction of Shahganj-Barkhera Road has also begun. Ujjain-Badnagar road is being converted into four-lane. Work on Rewa-Sidhi Road will be started by March-end. Bhopal-Biaora Road’s construction has been started. Award for Bhopal-Sehore Road has been passed. Construction of Sidhi-Singrauli Road is in the final stage. Work of road from Gwalior to Uttar Pradesh border is nearing completion. Bameetha-Satna Road is being constructed.
The Board of Directors has given ex-post facto sanction to Directors reports for entire year ended on March 31, 2012 and approved increase in contract period of officers and employees working in the corporation. Sanction has been accorded to widening and reconstructing Shahganj-Barkhera Road, repair of Manasa-Rampura-Bhanpura-Jhalawad Road and Guna-Aron-Sironj Road and construction of Saleha-Salha Road in Sagar district.
Principal Secretaries Shri Ajaynath, Finance, Shri B.P. Singh, Forests, Shri K.K> Singh, PWD, Shri S.P.S. Parihar, Urban Administration & Development, Secretary to CM Shri S.K. Mishra, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation and Secretary Mineral Resources Development Shri Ajatshatru were present at the meeting.
