Palakhedi project: Eighty farmers submit objections

Indore: The housing board’s proposed project in Palakhedi seems to have run into rough weather as 80 farmers from the village have submitted objections against it. The board is now planning to reply to these objections.

A residential project has been planned on 159.595 hectares in Palakhedi village by the board for which it had handed a land acquisition proposal to the district administration some time back.

Following this, the district administration had issued a public notice in April, inviting objections and suggestions from the farmers of the area.

Sources in housing board said that all 80 farmers of the area have objected to the scheme. The farmers argued that if their land was taken, they would be left with no income source to sustain themselves and their families.

Besides, some builders and colonisers who had purchased land in the area earlier, too have submitted objections to the project along with the approved lay-out plans given by the Town and Country Planning department.

The housing board officials said land acquisition would be done only after replies were given to the objections raised.

Apart from farmers, the Indore Development Authority (IDA) too is not reportedly happy with the board’s scheme in Palakhedi village.

The reason, sources say, is that IDA has proposed its own scheme in the area. IDA chief executive Officer Chandramauli Shukla had justified farmers’ protest against the Board’s project in Palakhedi in a recent discussion with the farmers.
