Over 1.25 lakh licensed weapons deposited in last 10 days

Bhopal: During last 10 days since promulgation of model code of conduct in Madhya Pradesh, one lakh 26 thousand 936 licensed weapons have been deposited. During last 24 hours, 13 thousand 202 licensed weapons have been got deposited by district administration and police. As many as 16 illegal firearms have been seized and licenses of 147 weapons have been cancelled.

So far, 9 thousand 178 non-bailable warrants have been issued in the state. During last 24 hours, 293 non-bailable warrants have been issued. Similarly 1419 illegal weapons have been seized. Police has seized 59 weapons during last 24 hours.
Large-scale security and law & order arrangements have been made to ensure peace during elections in the state. Action has been taken under sections 107/116 of CRPC against 45 thousand 949 persons so far and 23 thousand 669 persons have been bound over. Action was taken against 1421 persons for violating this provision.
In police action, 300 kg explosives of various types have been seized including 267 detonators and 22 kg explosives. The police have also seized 140 live cartridges.
