Occupants of illegal duplexes given time to relocate

BHOPAL: District administration in Bhopal said that the occupants of 32 illegal duplexes in the township will be given adequate time for relocation, a day after removing encroachments from 141 acres of government land at Minal Residency.

Source said, the film city in Minal Residency, where the set of Prakash Jha’s upcoming movie “Arakshan” starring Big B, was put up too was razed in the drive, sources said.

Sub Divisional Magistrate of Govindpura area A S Pawar said, “the people living in duplexes that have come up unlawfully in Minal Residency will be given time.”

“We are going to give sufficient time to the people living in 32 houses to settle their grievances with the builder of Minal Residency,” he said. The houses that have come up illegally have been marked “X”, the official said.

The district administration has so far bulldozed a portion of a shopping mall, a food court and illegal parking area among other structures built on the disputed land, sources said.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court’s principal bench in Jabalpur yesterday reserved its order on a petition seeking a stay on the anti-encroachment drive in Minal Residency.
