Now Aadhar number mandatory for gas victim claimants’ compensation

Bhopal. Now Aadhar card has been made mandatory for claimants of ex-gratia or gas victim compensation. Bhopal Gas Victim Welfare Commissioner Office in Charge Registrar Shri Ajay Shrivastava informed that those gas victim claimants who have not yet got their Aadhar cards made will have to mandatorily get it made from the nearest Aadhar Kendra before June 30, 2017. In case of any inconvenience, the claimant can contact Deputy Commissioner, Claim Authority No. 3 Shri Deepak Bansal at District Court premises, Shahjehanabad, Bhopal.

Government of India’s Ministry of Chemcicals, in its notification dated March 6, 2017, has made it mandatory for beneficiaries to produce their Aadhar card (number) at the court before obtaining compensation.

Ministry of Chemicals of the Union Government under the Bhopal Gas Leak Disaster (Processing of Claims) Act, 1985 established Office of the Welfare Commissioner Bhopal Gas Victims Bhopal in 1992 for speedy disposal of justice/compensation claims to Bhopal gas victims and their beneficiaries. Under this, claimants and beneficiaries of various categories are being provided ex-gratia by the Government of India.

This office has taken the scheme on Direct Benefit Transfer (D.B.T.) platform. In order to the Bhopal Gas Leak Disaster (Processing of Claims) Act – 1985, an ex-gratia is being paid to permanently handicapped, serious illness, cancer, complete kidney failure, temporary hanicapped gas victims etc under ex-gratia scheme.
