No helmet no petrol

BHOPAL: Rules are getting strict for the two wheeler riders. The Bhopal administration has now decided to deny fuel to the riders not wearing helmets, said officials.

Bhopal District Collector Manoj Srivastav said, the administration here has instructed all petrol vends in the city to sell petrol only if the rider is wearing a helmet.

If the riders violate the order, they will be fined under section 188 of Indian Penal Code (Disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant).

To discourage two-wheeler riders from ganging up and creating ruckus at petrol pumps and elsewhere, the administration has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) that bans gathering of five or more people.

Since May 10, about 45,000 people have been fined across Bhopal. With a fine of Rs. 50 for not wearing helmet, the city administration has collected around Rs. 20 lakh so far.

Also administration of Noida and Farukkhabad in Uttar Pradesh has also issued similar orders.
