New schemes to Promote renewable energy in MP

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that besides various concessions for generation of renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh, the State Government is giving other facilities including identifying sites for setting up units in this sector. He said that a new scheme has been chalked out in Madhya Pradesh to promote renewable energy – solar, wind and biomass as well as minor hydel power projects. Shri Chouhan was speaking at a programme organised in New Delhi to invite investors to invest in renewable energy sector in Madhya Pradesh. New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi was also present on the occasion. On the occasion, Shri Chouhan also launched website www.mpnred.com.

Inviting investors to invest in new and renewable energy sector in Madhya Pradesh, Shri Chouhan said that there are immense potential in solar energy sector in Madhya Pradesh. The State Government is committed to focus on this sector. The State Government considers this as a mission. Shri Chouhan informed that after Gujarat and Rajasthan, sunlight stays for much longer duration in Madhya Pradesh, which should be tapped. Shri Chouhan informed that earlier Madhya Pradesh was counted among backward states, but now it has entered the list of developed states after development works carried out during the last eight years. State’s growth rate was 11.89 percent and agriculture growth rate 18 percent last year.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that agriculture has been made a profitable occupation in the state. Now, Madhya Pradesh is generating eight thousand megawatt power. Work has been started to supply 24-hour power to all the villages till 2013.

New and Renewable Energy Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi informed investors about new policy and assured that the State Government will extend every possible assistance to them for setting up industries in this sector. Energy Development Corporation Chairman Shri Vijendra Singh Sisodiya, Madhya Pradesh Secretary Renewable Energy Shri S. R. Mohanty, Commissioner Industries Shri Rakesh Chaturvedi and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Committee Managing Director Shri Manu Shrivastava were present on the occasion.
