MP will be the no.1 in Law & order

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh will be made number one state in the country in law & order. Law & order is very important for the State Government. Entire development goes waste if there is no peace and security. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also lauded the police and administration for ensuring law & order effectively and their prompt action on sensitive occasion.

Shri Chouhan was addressing a joint meeting of administrative and police officers on the concluding day of commissioner-collector conference here today. He said that Madhya Pradesh is an island of peace. In recent days, various states of the country witnessed untoward situations in the wake of incidents of Myanmar and Assam, but Madhya Pradesh remained totally peaceful due to alertness of the police and administration. Peace and harmony of the state is a matter of pride. Dacoit menace in Madhya Pradesh is on the verge of extinction. Naxalims was not allowed to spread its tentacles in the state due to effective action. Shri Chouhan said that despite all these achievements, there are some lacunae, which need to be rectified. Sensitive cases like crimes against women cause pain. Good results have been yielded by action against anti-social elements in Malwa region recently. He said that the police should work in a manner which should instill fear among criminals and generate respect among common people.

At the meeting, a presentation was made on challenges and various reasons behind cropping up of law & order situation. It was informed that everywhere in the country, the police personnel have to face challenging situations on communal issues, terrorism and agitations. Some challenges like on the occasion of festivals, natural calamity, sudden outburst of public anger and accidents are challenges. The police needs to act promptly in such situations. On the other hand, long-term religious disputes, terrorism etc. need long-term strategy. Those points were also highlighted in the presentation, which can create law & order situation in future. Solutions to problems were also highlighted.

Officers were directed that area-wise disputes should be identified in advance. Anti-social elements should be rounded up now and then. Effective action should also be taken against inflammatory news articles, speeches, rumours etc. Routes of processions should be fixed in advance through mutual discussions. Reserve force must always remain ready. Special watch should be maintained at religious and other sensitive places. Riot prevention plan should be kept in readiness.

It was informed at the meeting that Madhya Pradesh is the most responsive state in crimes against women. All the cases are registered. Due to this, number of cases seem to be more. But this will lead to reduction in crimes against women. Similarly, sentences have been pronounced in 60 percent cases of heinous crimes. Since year 2008 till now, death sentences have been awarded to 15 accused and life term to hundreds.

Large number of suggestions were put forth by ministers and police & administrative officers for prevention of crimes including appointment of good lawyers for pleading cases, special vigilance in border areas, establishment of new police stations, prompt and effective against those who file fake FIR and incite violence, restoration of CID system, probes through scientific methods, taking serious notes of even small incidents, withdrawal of petty cases pending for years, separate security arrangements for Mahakal Mandir, education and employment in industrial areas, proper housing arrangements for oustees, making available full-time law officers to superintendents of police, use of state-of-art technique etc.
