MP received a sum of Rs. 535 crore for development

BHOPAL: In eight Maoist violence-affected backward districts of Madhya Pradesh Rs. 535 crore for development works has been sanctioned by the Central Government.

Connecting villages with 800 to 999 populations in Madhya Pradesh to rural roads is in the view by construction of 1665 kilometer long 458 roads.

Chief Minister of MP Shivraj Sing Chouhan has been persistently demanding for connecting villages less than 1000 population with rural roads. So far, all the villages having 1000 population have been connected with roads in the state.

Shri Chouhan met Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh and expressed gratitude towards him for the sanction. Chouhan urged Ramesh that Singrauli district should also be included with these eight AIP districts since it was earlier a part of Sidhi district. He demanded Rs. 80 crore for the construction of 252 kilometer long 51 roads in Singrauli district.

Due to error in the figures of Census 2001, less number of houses was being allotted to Madhya Pradesh under Indira Awas Yojna. CM urged the Rural Development Minister that like previous years, funds should be sanctioned to construct one lakh houses under Indira Awas Yojna this year also. Ramesh apprised Chouhan that construction of latrines has also been included in the scheme being implemented under employment guarantee scheme.
