Most callers seek schemes’ information from CM helpline

Bhopal: Over 15 thousand calls were received by CM Helpline on the very first day of its launch on Thursday at its call centre in Bhopal. The helpline has been launched to inform people about state government’s public welfare schemes and to redress their problems and complaints. This overwhelming response goes to show that people are inquisitive about the service.

About 85 percent of about 12 lakh calls received since January 2014 when the CM Helpline was run as pilot project pertained to seeking information about government’s various schemes. It is clear from this fact that most of common people are interested in knowing about eligibility and method to avail benefit of public welfare schemes and programmes through the CM Helpline and less inclined towards redressal of problems and complaints.

When a person enquires about a state government scheme on CM Helpline 181, the operator asks him name of the department. On being informed about department, the operator elicits desired information from concerning department’s computer and conveys it to the caller in easy and simple language about eligibility and the process of availing benefit. For this, a special software has been developed. In this way, CM Helpline has become yet another easy way to obtain comprehensive knowledge about schemes after publication of booklet “Aage Aayen, Laabh Uthaayen” by Public Relations Department of the state government. It has already been made clear that CM Helpline has the arrangement to receive 100 calls simultaneously. On Thursday, engaged tone was being heard from 181. This situation was created since hundreds of people from various places were dialling the number. Efforts are on to improve this situation soon and enhance helpline’s capacity in view of massive response to it.
