Monsoon like to arrive in state by June 18

Bhopal. In view of arrival of monsoon, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa reviewed preparations of concerning departments for precautions and methods to prevent loss of life and property due to floods and excessive rains. CS made the review at a meeting of state level committee here today.

CS said that updated resources of information technology should be used to communicate rains forecasts and flood-related information quickly to officers of concerning departments and districts for mutual coordination. He directed to ensure constant contact through e-mail and Whatsapp. The meeting was informed that information received from Doppler radar at Bhopal is continuously present on the website of Meteorology Department. Regarding detailed information about colour Doppler, Meteorology Department will conduct video-conferencing on June 10. Meteorology Department will provide daily information about forecast and situation of rains to concerning departments. According to the department, monsoon is like to arrive in Madhya Pradesh by June 16 and spread all over the state by June 30.

CS directed NVDA officers for concrete arrangements to coordinate with concerning district administration and communicate advance information before release of water from dams. The meeting also reviewed repairs of bridges and culverts, continuance of railway and road traffic, installation of warning signboards on endangered bridges, cleaning of nullahs and drains in urban areas and arrangements for medical facilities and medicines in flood-prone areas.

The meeting was informed about preparations for disaster management, relief and rescue operations by the police, Home Guards and Army. Along with officers of all major state government departments, officers of Railways, Army, Meteorology Department and Central Water Commission also attended the meeting.
