Chouhan Meets Pawar, Jaiswal in New Delhi, Presses for Warehouses and Coal

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wendesday called on Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Union Coal Minister Shriprakash Jaiswal in New Delhi and put forth different demands for Madhya Pradesh including the requirement for a logistics hub and coal, reported PTI.

In the meeting, Chouhan urged Pawar to develop Madhya Pradesh as a logistic hub because of its location and linkage by road and rail, report said.

“Through Madhya Pradesh State Ware Housing Corporation, a logistic hub can be developed in the state,” the chief minister told Pawar.

According to report, Pawar in principle agreed to develop ware houses in Itarsi and Bina, both capable of providing storage facilities for the next seven years.

The chienf minister also invited Pawar to visit the state, which the Union minister accepted, said report.

During his meeting with Jaiswal, Chouhan asked him for expeditious disposal of coal linkage for the three thermal power plans which are set to be set up in MP as per the 12th Five Year Plan, report said.

The union minister informed Chouhan that an early decision would be taken for providing 79 lakh MT of coal for 1,600 MW power project a joint venture with BHEL in Khandwa, 78.7 lakh MT of coal for 1,600 MW Bansagar Thermal Power Plant in Shahdol district, 84 lakh MT of coal for 1,600 MW Shrisingaji Thermal Power Project in Khandwa district, said report.

Chouhan urged the Minister to send the improved quality of coal and increase the allotment to 170 lakh MT, report said.

Jaiswal informed the BJP-ruled state’s Chief Minister that a task force has been constituted under his Ministry to streamline the whole system (coal allotment) and every state will benefit from it.
