Madhya Pradesh to be number one state in information technology

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh will be number one state in information technology in the country. The state is entering golden age in IT and e-Governance sectors and is also among 3 top states in e-Governance and is an ideal place for investment in information technology sector. Shri Chouhan was addressing foundation stone laying ceremony of Infosys campus at Indore today.

On the occasion, founder and Executive Director of Infosys Shri Narayan Murthy informed that in the first phase, the company will invest Rs. 400 crore and undertake construction in 7 lakh square feet for seating 5000 software professionals.

The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride that important companies like Infosys and TCS are starting work in Madhya Pradesh and other major companies are also coming. Due to it, Indore will become an IT hub. He said that efforts are being made that state’s talents do not have to go outside for jobs and get employment in the state itself. About 1.50 lakh engineers are passing out in the state every year. Shri Chouhan said that IT sector’s contribution in GDP was 1.2 percent in year 1998, which has risen to 6.9 percent now.

The Chief Minister said that software exports from Madhya Pradesh was of about Rs. 250 crore in year 2012. Madhya Pradesh is centre of special attraction for IT companies after Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon and Delhi. IT companies are eager to come to Madhya Pradesh due to its strong economy, good infrastructure, peaceful atmosphere, better connectivity, adequate availability of land and talent pool.
Founder and Executive Director of Infosys Shri Narayan Murthy said that apart from better atmosphere, basic facilities are also available in Madhya Pradesh. Indore is the only city which has both Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management. Indore is a suitable investment destination for IT and ITeS industries. He said that Infosys is company with annual turnover of US Dollars 7.4 billion and over one lakh 58 thousand employees.

Shri Narayan Murthy said that this Infosys campus in Indore’s Super Corridor will be constructed on 130 acre land allotted by Madhya Pradesh government. The first phase of this state-of-art campus is expected to be completed in next 24 months.

Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that better facilities and atmosphere for investment is available in Madhya Pradesh. Due to state government’s efforts Indore has become hub of health, education and IT. He assured that Infosys will get all permissions within 6 days. State government has given a major contribution to development by providing land to units investing in Indore’s Super Corridor.

Industries Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Information Technology Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh, Mayor Shri Krishna Murari Moghe, MP Smt. Sumitra Mahajan and other public representatives were also present on the occasion.
