“Investing in Green Gold” Bamboo Investors Meet from June 20

Bhopal: The first Bamboo Investors Meet-2015 of the country from June 20 to 22 will be attended by investors and experts from China, Belgium, Germany, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tripura, Gujarat, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal etc. These include producers of bamboo-based energy, textiles, furniture, manufacturers of handicraft, builders of bamboo houses, bamboo producing farmers etc.

Madhya Pradesh has immense potential

Director Madhya Pradesh Bamboo Mission Shri A.K. Bhattacharya informed that demand for bamboo-based products has increased immensely in the country and world. Since Madhya Pradesh has the largest forest area in the country, immense possibilities of bamboo production and industry can be developed here. Due to numerous benefits of bamboo, it is called “Green Gold”. The Investment Meet named as “Investing in Green Gold” will bridge the gap between producer farmers, craftspersons, entrepreneurs, investors and government. Madhya Pradesh will also serve as a gateway for major industries since it is situated in the middle of the country.

Rural economy to be boosted

The meet will give maximum benefit to rural economy. Farmers will grow bamboo along with other crops and with initiative of Bamboo Mission skill of craftspersons who usually made only baskets, mats and ordinary goods will be upgraded. Now, bamboo craftspersons will also manufacture modern furniture, floor tiles, cloth, board etc. apart from traditional bamboo products. Apart from expansion of bamboo forest area, it would also cast positive effect on world’s environment.

Union Minister for Road Transport Shri Nitin Gadkari will be chief guest at the inaugural function at Academy of Administration on June 20 at 5 pm. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will preside over the function. The 3-day meet comprising 8 sessions will be participated by bamboo investors, farmers, artisans, industrialists, IAS and senior IFS officers.
