Inspired by Madhya Pradesh, Six big states has adopted Ladli Laxmi Yojna
Bhopal : Inspired by Madhya Pradesh, the six big states of country Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Goa have adopted Ladli Laxmi Yojna with different names and laid foundation of golden future of girls.
Ladli Laxmi Yojna, which is being implemented in Madhya Pradesh for the last five years for bringing about positive thinking towards birth of girls in society, improve sex ratio and improve girls’ health and education status.
In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has implemented several schemes to ensure girls’ socio-economic security and to improve their health and education status. On his initiative, the scheme was launched in the state from Raisen on April 1, 2007. Since then, Shri Chouhan has been taking interest in the implementation of the scheme himself. He never forgets to distribute savings certificates under the scheme at his programmes at district, tahsils and towns.
In view of success of Ladli Laxmi Yojna in Madhya Pradesh, several other states have also showed interest in it. States like Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand had even sent their officers to Madhya Pradesh to collect information about the scheme. First of all, Delhi state had started its scheme inspired by Madhya Pradesh’s scheme naming it as “Ladli” on January 1, 2008. Rules for the scheme were also framed as “Delhi Ladli Scheme Rules 2008”. The scheme aims at making girls socio-economically secure, educated and self-reliant.
After studying Ladli Laxmi Yojna, Uttar Pradesh implemented it on January 15, 2009 as “Mahatma Gandhi Gareeb Balika Ashirwad Yojna”. In Uttar Pradesh, a lump sum amount is deposited in girl’s name for 18 years. After maturity of the deposit after 18 years, beneficiary girl will be given about :Rs. one lakh. Inspired by Madhya Pradesh, neighbouring state Chhattisgarh also started the scheme as “Dhan Laxmi Yojna” in the year 2008. Under the scheme, girls born after November 19, 2008 will be given Rs. One lakh by insurance company on attaining 18 years of age if they are unmarried.
Another big state Bihar has implemented the scheme as “Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojna” since July 7, 2008. In Bihar’s scheme, Rs. 2000 each is invested in the names of the first two girls born into a BPL family and Rs. 18 thousand each is given to them on attaining age of 18 years.
On the lines of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand has also implemented “Mukhyamantri Ladli Yojna” since November 17, 2011. A team of Jharkhand’s officers had visited Madhya Pradesh to study the scheme before launching it in their state. In Jharkhand, lump sum amount of Rs. one lakh 8 thousand 600 will be deposited in the name of beneficiary BPL girl on attaining 21 years of age and passing class XII exam.
In Goa, the scheme has been launched in May this year. Goa has also named its scheme as “Ladli Laxmi”. Financial assistance worth Rs. one lakh will be given to a beneficiary girl in Goa on attaining 18 years of age. Under the scheme girls belonging to all the sections of society will be benefit
