Increase RTPCR test numbers: Singh Deo

Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Minister T. S. Singh Deo on Monday told officials to increase the number of RT-PCR tests as compared to antigen tests for better detection of Covid-19 positive cases.

Singh Deo held a review of the pandemic’s status in the state with senior officials at the New Circuit House, Civil Lines. He discussed data on Covid testing and identification of positive cases.

He directed the officials to hike the number of Reverse Transcript Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing for better identification of Covid patients.

He said the RT-PCR and Antigen test ratio is of 60:40. He said the test report should be provided to the patients at the earliest to commence early treatment.

The Minister reviewed the home isolation arrangements and contact tracing management. He gave directions to further strengthen both the systems.

The officials were told to increase the number of beds in hospitals, the number of ventilators and increase the oxygen supply keeping in view the rising number of cases in the state.
