High alert issued in Madhya Pradesh for protection from Novel Coronavirus

Bhopal: High alert has been issued by the Health Department for protection from Novel Coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh. Special training is being provided to doctors to handle this virus. Isolation wards have been set up at all the District and Civil Hospitals. This was informed by the Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare Tulsiram Silawat while reviewing the preparedness of the department in this regard.
Silawat said that wide scale public-awareness campaign should be organized for protection from this virus. Besides domestic methods, people should be made aware of conventional methods for protection from the virus. He asked to get the form filled in this connection by identifying international travelers at airports. Along with this, Silawat instructed Municipal Corporations’ teams to ensure daily cleanliness at meat and fish market and to spray medicines at these places.
Informing about the preparedness of the Health Department, the Principal Secretary Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil said that 6 persons, who returned from China have been stopped in Delhi. The Department of Health of the Union Government is examining every China returned person in its direct monitoring. Such persons will be kept under monitoring for 14 days. She further added that regular monitoring of measures being taken for protection from the virus and their effects are being done. A task force headed by the Collector, comprising representatives of Doctors’ associations has been constituted at district level. Isolation wards with 5 and 10 beds have been made at all the district hospitals and medical hospitals respectively. The Medical Colleges of Sagar, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur and Rewa have been selected for collection of Coronavirus samples. Samples will be sent to N.I.V. Lab, Pune, through private courier for free analysis.
It was informed in the meeting that the Department of Tourism has asked hotels to provide information about the tourists coming from China or other infected countries. Medical out-posts has been set up in Sanchi, where tourists are being briefed on the novel coronavirus. At the state level, control room has been set up to provide information about the virus to the general public. From the call centre on toll free no. 104, anyone can get a solution to their doubts. The call centre is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
News letter ‘Asha’, focusing activities of Department of Public Health and Family Welfare was released in the meeting. The Commissioner, Pratik Hajela, Food and Drug Controller Ravinder Singh and Senior Officers of Health Department were present on the occasion.
