Gwalior to have national sports centre for disabled persons

Bhopal. Latest equipments will be manufactured for all-round development of disabled persons. As a result, they would work like common people . This was stated by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Thawarchand Gehlot at the workshop of National Trust Schemes today. he said that MoUs have been signed with German and British companies to manufacture aids for disable persons. Techniques will be exchanged between both countries. Equipments will be manufactured within one to one and half years. Shri Gehlot said that a national sports centre for disabled persons will be constructed at Gwalior.

Union Minister Shri Gehlot said that instead of district-level, identity cards of disabled persons will be issued at national level. Due to being multi-purpose, disabled persons can avail benefits through these identity cards in any state. He said that the Government of India has provisions of scholarships for pre-matric, post-matric, special courses and study in foreign countries. The government has made provision of Rs. 6 lakh per annum medical assistance for deaf and dumb children below 5 years of age. Under the scheme, assistance has been provided to 355 deaf and dumb children. Of these, 300 deaf and dumb children have now started to speak and hear. Shri Gehlot urged representatives of disabled children’s institutions to discuss this issue and put forth suggestions.

The Union Minister said that government of India is implementing Niramay, Gharaunda, Vikas, Disha, Samarth, Sahyoti, Sambhav, Gyan Prabha, Prerna and Badhte Qadam schemes for all-round development of 3 crore disabled persons throughout the country. For this, special campaigns are also being conducted by Social Justice Departments of state governments.

State’s Social Justice Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava said that maximum efforts would be made for success of National Trust’s schemes in the state. For this, the Department of Social Justice will undertaking widespread publicity. He said that the department will prepare and distribute a booklet containing information about all these schemes. Shri Bhargava suggested to organize such workshops at district level also. Shri Bhargava said that the state government has benefited cent percent disabled persons by under Sparsh Abhiyan through Antyodaya Melas. He informed that the state government has given 6 percent reservation to disabled persons in government jobs. Expressing special gratitude to the Central government, he said that country and state will also develop with the development of 3 crore disabled persons.

MP Shri Alok Sanjar, Secretary Social Justice Dr. Manohar Agnani, Director Shri Ajit Kumar , disabled persons and representatives of their institutions were present on the occasion. .
