Govt servants’ old age worries prevented: CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday said the enforcement of the old pension scheme (OPS) will prevent the old age worries of government employees and officials. It will also give financial strength to their families.

Baghel was addressing a felicitation programme of around 12 associations of teachers’ cadre and Panchayat Secretaries organized at the Sardar Balbeer Singh Juneja Stadium to thank the Chief Minister for restoring the old pension scheme.

“How a single decision could make a drastic change in people’s lives can be seen with the declaration of old pension scheme,” he said, adding that the overwhelming response was not anticipated.

“Our government is working for the welfare of all sections of the society. Teachers and government staff of the health department were our favourite because of their dedicated efforts in combating the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Teachers’ honour would be safeguarded by the government, and from now onwards there will not be any title for them like ‘Shiksha Karmi’ and contractual employee, he said.

Baghel later announced an empowered committee headed by the Chief Secretary regarding regularization of Panchayat Secretaries across the state.
