Government servants can draw 75 percent from GPF account

Bhopal: A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today took a major decision in the interests of government employees. As per the decision, now the government employees can draw a maximum of 75 percent from their GPF account deposited during the year. For this, they will not have to cite any reason. Besides, it was decided to delegate this power to head of department and lower levels. This will enable employees to draw amount from this fund timely without any delay.
It is noteworthy that at present inordinate delay is caused in drawl of part final amount from general provident fund since powers to sanction drawl amounts in cases of special reasons under Rule 16 are vested at higher level. As a result, the funds drawn citing a particular reason fail to serve the purpose in time.
The cabinet decided to revise delegation of financial powers for smoother construction and development works. Its objective is to decentralise the powers to ensure discipline and prompt decision-making. As per the decision, the heads having become irrelevant will be removed from existing financial powers. New heads will be included in view of expansion of programmes and activities. Ambiguous heads of financial powers will be made explicit. Delegation process will be made friendlier.
