Free Historical Monuments from Encroachment, Gaur Instructs Officials

While touring the city, Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur has issued directives to strictly remove encroachment on historical monuments by land mafia besides clearing all encroachments from the Bada Bagh within 24 hours, said an official release.

During his two-hour city tour, Gaur visited Kamla Park, Retghat, Sultania Road, Ibrahimpura, Moti Masjid, Fatehgarh, Hamidia Hospital premises, Motia Talab Shahjehanabad, Marghatia Mandir, Bada Bagh and Alpana Talkies Junction and saw the proposed parking place, protection of historical monuments, the encroachments on them, and the government buildings that comes in the way of BRTS Corridor construction.

He was accompanied by Bhopal Municipal Corporation President Kailash Mishra, local councilors, Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manish Singh, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department GP Katare, officers of the electricity distribution company and BRTS Corridor construction, Chief Executive Officer of Waqf Board, and several others.

The minister gave instruction to spread tiles at the parking place being built near the water tank near the Old Kotwali.

He minister expressed displeasure over possession of the parking place by a cycle trader.

District Collector Nikunj Shrivastava immediately asked the officers to seize around 50 cycles of the trader kept on the parking place.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner informed that multi-storey parking place will be constructed near the water tank.

Gaur also saw the old and dilapidated Wahidia Government School Building at Fatehgarh and instructed to demolish the same and construct an overhead water tank there.

He also instructed to develop the ground near the school building as sports ground.

He directed to demolish or reduce the size partially the Ambedkar Library building and two other buildings of Public Works Department in Fatehgarh which is coming in the way of BRTS Corridor construction. He asked to remove the condemned vehicles parked on the roads.

Seeing the poor condition of Bada Bagh, Gaur instructed to remove all encroachments from there within 24 hours and protect the historical Royal Tombs and three-storey step well which is one thousand years old.

Waqf Board Chief Executive Officer Daood Ahmed informed that most of the area of Bada Bagh has been encroached upon.

Those who have encroached upon the place have made it as illegal parking place and collects money illegally from the vehicle owners.
He said that the property belong to Waqf Board and demand to remove encroachments from it. He said that the Model Ground is also property of Waqf Board but is fully under illegal occupation.

Gaur instructed to free from encroachment the historical Lal Darwaja belonging to Nawab era and open them.

He also saw the construction work of BRTS Corridor near Kamla Park. He directed to construct overhead water tank on the plot belonging to PHE department near the Gandhi Medical College.

One man had been claiming the plot of land belonged to him with the aid of forged documents. But the court has declared it as property of the PHE Department.
