Every single onion to be procured from farmers

Bhopal. Every single onion will be procured from farmers. Every single onion of every size will be procured. They would not be left alone to suffer losses. On farmers’ appeal, the Chief Minister directed to make arrangements to weigh entire trolley instead of weighing onion by weight of 20 kg. He said that onion from any district should be procured and farmers should not be returned empty-handed. It should be ensured that onion is not from other states. Irregularity in procurement will not be tolerated. He urged farmers not to bring rotten onion for sale. Farmers have grown onion by sweating out in fields, which will not be allowed to be sold at throwaway price. This was stated by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan during surprise inspection of onion procurement centre set up at Ruchi Warehouse, Majhaniya on AB Road in Shajapur today. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Principal Secretary Public Relations Shri S.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary Horticulture and Food Processing and MD of MARKFED Shri B.M. Sharma.

During surprise inspection of onion procurement centre, the Chief Minister went to every weighing balance and inspected arrangements for procurement. He also talked to farmers who have brought onion for sale and enquired about arrangements. The Chief Minister said that farmers’ hard work will not be allowed to go waste. Farmers feed all. He said that if farmers get over Rs. 6 per kg price then they should sell their onion there, but not below Rs. 6 per kg.

Farmers happy over onion procurement

Farmers informed the Chief Minister that arrangements are very good. Their onion was not getting price of even Re. one in Mandis earlier. They had become distressed. Under such circumstances, the state government has taken a good decision to procure onions from farmers, who are now happy over it.

Farmers Welfare Fund

The Chief Minister said that Farmers Welfare Fund would be instituted soon to protect farmers’ interests in disasters and adverse conditions. Farmers will be given assistance from this fund in adverse conditions. The state government stands by farmers.

Garlands Maharana Pratap’s statue

On the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti, the Chief Minister garlanded his statue at Shajapur today. Remembering Maharana Pratap, Shri Chouhan said that he was a true son of the soil and pride of India. Maharana Pratap never bowed before anyone. Such gallant warriors deserve salute. He said that he is fortunate enough to pay tributes at the feet of Maharana Pratap.
