Every house-less tribal to be provided house in state by year 2020

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that every house-less tribal will be provided a house by year 2020. He said that after villages, every Majra-Tola will also be supplied 24X7 power by laying lines. The Chief Minister was addressing a tribal farmers’ convention at Sondwa after performing Bhumi Poojan of Rs. 582 crore Narmada Link Alirajpur lift irrigation project at Jhandana in Alirajpur today. Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava and minister in-charge of district Shri Antar Singh Arya were also present.

The Chief Minister said that Rs. 100 crore will be spent on development of Alirajpur district, which would improve fortunues and image of the district. Referring to progress of farmers, the Chief Minister said that farmers in the state can now repay 90 percent of the loan taken by them. The Chief Minister said that Rs. 582 crore will be spent on construction of Narmada Link Alirajpur lift irrigation project. It will irrigate 55 thousand hectares. Following start of the project, tribals in the district will not have to migrate to other areas for employment. He directed officers to complete the project within 2 years. The Chief Minister announced to open a college at Sondwa, upgrade high school at Walpur to higher secondary school, develop ghats and construct hotels to develop confluence of Narmada and Hathini rivers as a tourist destination. The Chief Minister also administered a pledge to tribals to keep their houses, villages and city clean. He urged villagers to construct toilets in their houses.

First irrigation scheme of tribal area

Under the project, 10 cumec Narmada water will be obtained at the confluence of Narmada and Hathini rivers near Roligaon and lifted to a height of 240 metres and supplied through 46 km long rising main, 120 km long gravity main and about 346 km long minor and sub minor district system. Farmers having upto 2 and half hectares will be given connections from it enabling them to irrigate their fields directly through drips and sprinklers. This is first project in the tribal area under which they will get irrigation pipeline upto their fields. MLAs Shri Nagar Singh Chouhan, Shri Madho Singh Dawar, Shri Shantilal Bilwal, Shri Kalsingh Bhabar, Sushri Nirmala Bhuria were also present.
