Ensure proper arrangements for free and fair elections

Bhopal: Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa has directed to undertake constant campaign for increasing voter awareness under SVEEP plan so that maximum number of people exercise their franchise. The Chief Secretary also directed to entrench state’s borders with Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh as well as inter-district border, deploy more police personnel at sensitive and critical polling booths, keep in live contact with all polling booths under communication plan and ensure regular patrolling by mobile teams. Shri de Sa reviewed Lok Sabha election related preparations in Shahdol and Rewa divisions at Umaria today. Shri de Sa directed to ensure training of polling teams, proper arrangements for poll material, special security at strong rooms and counting venues. He said that before polling, sector magistrates should take stock of arrangements at all polling booths and ensure all necessary arrangements there. DGP Shri Nandan Dube assured all police officers of Shahdol and Rewa divisions that forces will be provided as per their requirements.

Commissioner Shri D.P. Ahirwar informed through a presentation that 982 out of total 6516 polling booths in Rewa, Satna and Shahdol Lok Sabha constituencies have been declared sensitive. The polling booths lacking telephone and mobile connectivity will be linked through wireless sets. As many as 199 criminals have been externed from 7 districts during Lok Sabha elections. Arrests have also been made under NSA.

Preparations for wheat procurement

The Chief Secretary also reviewed preparations for wheat procurement at a meeting with commissioners and collectors of Shahdol and Rewa divisions. He directed for proper arrangements in both the divisions.

The Chief Secretary directed to pay attention to ensure that farmers get proper price and face no difficulty at wheat procurements centres. The Chief Secretary undertook district-wise review of implementation of Food Security Act. It was informed that 80 wheat procurement centres have been set up in Shahdol division and 212 in Rewa division. All is set for wheat procurement in both the districts.

DGP Shri Nandan Dube, commissioner Shri D.P. Ahirwar, ADG Law & Order Shri S.L. Thousen, ADG Intelligence Shri Sarabjeet Singh, IG Naxal Area Shri Sanjeev Sami, IG Shahdol Shri Ved Prakash Sharma, IG Rewa Range Shri Pawan Shrivastava and all district collectors of the 2 divisions were present on the occasion.
