Engineers should contribute to state and country’s development with technical skills

Bhopal: Remembering source of inspiration of Indian engineers Bharat Ratna Dr. Mokshgundam Vishwesariyya, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa said that he had achieved lofty goals despite limited resources. He constructed major bridges and dams with his unique technical skill and gave fillip to country’s development. The Chief Secretary exhorted young engineers to draw inspiration from him and contribute to country’s development. The Chief Secretary was addressing golden jubilee function of Government Engineering College Rewa as the chief guest today.

He said that the golden jubilee is an event of joy as well as contemplation and introspection. Current economy is competitive. We will lag behind if we do not continue to move. Shri de Sa said that principals, professors and college managements should ensure that best academic atmosphere is created in colleges, student learn and study and also imbibe practical knowledge. He urged alumni associations to serve as a bridge between former and present students.

The Chief Secretary congratulated the college management for holding golden jubilee function. He said that golden jubilee function is a matter of pride for any institution. The Chief Secretary said that he is pleased to know that apart from engineering, pass outs of the engineering college have also brought laurels to Rewa and state in administrative, educational, industrial, political and scientific sphere.

Shri de Sa inaugurated the function by garlanding and lighting a lamp before an image of Maa Saraswati. Girl students presented Saraswati Vandana and Madhya Pradesh Gaan. Engineer Rajendra Sharma delivered the welcome address. Principal Dr. D.K. Singh presented progress report of the college. Ex-student and Alumni Association’s President Shri S.K. Dixit, representatives Sudhir Devsar and Pushp Sharma also spoke.

The Chief Secretary inaugurated Dr. Mokshgundum Vishwesariyya’s statue and a park named after him. Shri de Sa also released a souvenir.
