Opposition demanded water supply on the daily basis

BHOPAL: On Thursday the MP government assured the state Assembly to seriously consider the proper water supply to the citizens on a daily basis from January 2012.

Babulal Gaur the Urban Development and Administration Minister gave the assurance during Question Hour while replying to a query from Arif Aqueel of opposition Congress.

Since 2008, Bhopal received scanty rainfall following which the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) was forced to supply water on alternate days as the water level in Upper Lake, Kolar and Kerwan dams went down drastically.

However, enough water was stored in dams this year due to sufficient rains. The local bodies have also passed a resolution to supply water daily in Bhopal sometime back, the MLA said.

But, the decision was not being implemented by the BMC following which Aqueel raised the matter on floor of the House. While the MLA was insisting that the Speaker Ishwardas Rohani direct the government to supply water daily to the people of Bhopal from January,

Mr. Gaur said the municipal corporation would supply water daily from March only after evaluating next three years requirement. Following a request from the speaker, the minister assured the house that he will seriously consider the issue of supplying water daily from January.
