ECI gives conditional permission to Baba Ramdev to hold Yoga campBhopal: Election Commission of India has given conditional permission to Baba Ramdev to hold Yoga camp. The commission has informed this to Chief Electoral Officers of all the five states where Vidhan Sabha elections are going to be held.
The conditions laid down by the commission include not to invite political leaders in the camp’s inaugural or concluding programmes as chief guest, do not distribute election propaganda material, not to use stage of Yoga camp for political purposes, no violation of model code of conduct by camp organisers etc. The condition lays down that permission will be withdrawn in case of violation. It has also been direct to inform organisers that no direct or indirect political message should be given through the camp. If such a thing happens then it will regarded as election expenditure and will be included in the election expenses of local candidate. Entire proceedings of Yoga camp will be video-graphed by a team appointed by the returning officer. Camp organisers will have to obtain permission for holding it from local body/police as per prescribed rules/law.
