ECI directives regarding permission for mounting loudspeakers on vehicles during assembly elections

Bhopal: Office of the Chief Electoral Office has given directives to district election officers regarding permission for mounting loudspeakers on vehicles during assembly elections. Collectors and district election officers have been asked to ensure strict enforcement of these directives in public interest.

It has been said in the directives that permission should not be given for mounting more than 2 loudspeakers on a vehicle as per provisions of Madhya Pradesh Noise Pollution Control Act 1985. Permission must be sought for use of loudspeakers necessarily from competent authority. Candidates have been advised to obtain permission before use of loudspeakers on vehicles from district transport officer by depositing prescribed fees.
Loudspeakers will be mounted on a vehicle facing front and back. It should be kept in mind that control of loudspeaker should not be in the hands of driver but any other person so that driver can drive the vehicle carefully. Loudspeakers can be used from 6 am to 11 pm in rural areas and 6 am to 10 pm in urban areas (within limits of municipal corporations and municipal councils)
