Divisional commissioners’ role vital in elections to urban bodies and three-tier Panchayat elections

Bhopal: Divisional commissioners’ role is vital in conducting elections to urban bodies and three-tier Panchayat elections in the state. They have to accomplish this task in coordination with district election officers (local elections). This was stated by State Election Commissioner Shri R. Parasuram during a video-conferencing with divisional commissioners on the use of EMS in elections to urban bodies and three-tier Panchayat elections-2014 here today.

During the video-conferencing, Shri Parasuram gave directives regarding availability of resources, ensuring exchange of information between district and commission, intense monitoring of election preparations, review of progress and training to officers and employees related to elections. He directed to chalk out a comprehensive plan for wide publicity about conducting these elections through EVMs in urban body elections in Dewas, Khargone, Balaghat and Bhopal, EVMs’ safe storage and inventory management and use of EVMs.

Shri Parasuram also directed about training to election staff in preparing photo bearing electoral rolls and conducting process of preparations of Aadahr forms, making available hard copies of control table’s information as well as its online information and delimitation.

The State Election Commissioner directed for maximum use of information technology for quick exchange of election-related information, provide connectivity upto block level and logistics.

All divisional commissioners suggested to accelerate pace of elections to urban bodies and three-tier Panchayat elections after Lok Sabha elections. The commissioners were asked to send feedback also.

Secretary Shri G.P. Shrivastava, Commissioner Narmadapuram Division Shri Arun Tiwari, Secretary Information Technology and Managing Director Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Shri Hari Ranjan and senior officers of the commission were present on the occasion.
