Development is Useless If it’s Light Does Not Reaches Common Man

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that if light of development does not reach common man, it is useless. Shri Chouhan was addressing the “ Building Competitiveness-Driving Development” Convention on the occasion of Regional Annual Meeting of C.I.I. held at Mumbai today.

State has now surplus electricity after setting a target of electricity production. He informed that a 750 m.w. capacity Solar Power Plant is being established in Rewa. State will get electricity at the rate of just Rs. 2.97 paisa from the plant. Today state produces 18000 m.w electricity which is more than its requirement.

Moreover, Shri Chouhan said that efforts to make agriculture a profitable occupation was taken in the agro based Madhya Pradesh. Attention was paid on irrigation and this is the result of the efforts that the area of irrigation land has become increased to 40 lakh hectare from 7 lakh 50 thousand hectare area. Training on advance agriculture techniques is being provided to the farmers. Target has been set to provide irrigation on 60 lakh hectare area till 2022. The agriculture growth rate is more than 20 percent in the state today whereas agriculture growth rate of the country is 7.5 percent. Purchasing power of the farmers is increased through development in agriculture sector, resulted in increase in sale of agriculture equipments, which benefitted the industrial sector. Besides traditional farming, emphasis is being laid on horticulture, floriculture and establishment of food processing industries.

Shri Chouhan further mentioned that Madhya Pradesh has prepared a road map before any state to achieve the target of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to double the farmers’ income in next 5 years. Soil testing laboratories are being established. Even minor information regarding agriculture is being provided to the farmers through Krishi Raths from village to village. Relief was given to the farmers providing interest free loans to them.

CM Shri Chouhan said that state has received letter to invest worth Rs. 2 lakh 43 thousand at the Global Investors Summit held in 2016 at Indore. State is also progressing in the field of education. Prestigious academic institutions like Symbiosis –Pune and Narsee Monjee of Mumbai are investing in the state. A famous company like Infosys is functioning in the state. State has lime stone in abundance and there is a vast scope to establish cement industry in the state.

Shri Chouhan informed that person born in the state will not become houseless now. State government will provide a piece of land for construction of house. Referring to girls education in state, he mentioned that Ladli Laxmi Yojana is being implemented in the state. At the time of birth of a girl child, an amount of Rs. 30 thousand is deposited under the scheme which make each girl lakhpati on attaining maturity. 30 percent reservation is being given to women in police recruitment. Sex ration which was 912 girls per 1000 boys has increased to 930 girls per 1000 boys.

Moreover, Shri Chouhan informed that children are future citizens of the state and encouragement to them is must. Provision of Rs. One thousand crore has been made to help talented students pursue higher studies.

Shri Chouhan said that once upon a time, Madhya Pradesh was known as dacoit affected state. Chambal ravines were famous for this. Dacoits have been eliminated in his tenure. Whether it is naxalites or SIMI, all have been controlled. The effect of proper law and order situation is reflecting from the investment and progress of business and industries in the state.

Furthermore, Shri Chouhan said that the state government has made a provision to provide loan upto Rs. 2 crore to make poor youths as entrepreneurs. 5 percent subsidy is being given by the state government on this. He said that he wish to lay a network of small industries in the state. For this, a venture capital fund of Rs. 100 crore has been made. Shri Chouhan mentioned that beside development of basic facilities, a single window system has been made functional to encourage industries in the state. The state government is paying attention to provide basic facilities to the citizens in the cities. Cities are becoming better from proper sewage system and water supply programmes.

Referring to the “Namami Devi Narmade” Seva Yatra, Shri Chouhan said that the Yatra has become public movement today to conserve lifeline Narmada River. Plentiful plantation has been carried out on the banks of Narmada River till date.

Earlier to this, CM Shri Chouhan held discussions with Director General of C.I.I. Shri Chandrajeet Banerjee, Shri Sudhir Mehta of C.I.I. West Region and Shri Vinod Karpe. Shri Banerjee gave information on C.I.I.’s future strategy and schemes to the Chief Minister.
