Cyber safety necessary to ensure credibility of IT-enabled services

Bhopal: Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa inaugurated a state-level workshop on cyber safety here today. The workshop was organised by Madhya Pradesh Agency for Promotion of Information Technology (MAP-IT) of Information Technology Department. Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretary-level officers and representatives of all departments were present on the occasion.

Chief Secretary Shri de Sa said that paying attention to cyber safety has become imperative with increasing use of information technology. By ensuring cyber safety in administrative sector, effective IT-enabled services can be provided to people effectively. Privacy and secrecy norms should also be adhered to for ensuring quality and credibility of these services. It has become imperative for every person and department to know about ways to keep safe their e-mail and sites from hackers. The Chief Secretary said that e-mail policy of Madhya Pradesh government has been chalked out. Role of information technology is very important in direct deposit of scholarships and assistance in beneficiaries’ bank accounts. In this way, Madhya Pradesh is ahead of a number of states in this sector. The Chief Secretary stressed the need for imparting cyber safety training at various levels.

Director General of Academy of Administration Shri Indraneel Shankar Dani said that cyber crimes have also increased with increase in use of information technology. In this respect, government departments should always remain alert. At the outset, Secretary Information Technology Shri Hari Ranjan Rao greeted the chief guest Shri de Sa and special guest Shri Dani. Shri Rao said that this workshop has been organised with a view to ensure that government departments pay attention to upgrading the level of cyber safety. Such efforts will continue. Inaugural session of the workshop was conducted by Deputy Secretary Information Technology Shri Sudhir Kochar. Electronics Development Corporation’s MD Shri M. Selvendran proposed a vote of thanks.
