Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Minister Babulal Gaur and Tourism Minister Tukojirao Puar held discussions with hotel and urban development sector investors in New Delhi on Tuesday with a view to attracting investment in the state.

The Ministers invited the investors to set up units in the state. The programme was part of the campaign launched for making the proposed Global Investors Summit, scheduled at Indore from October 28 to 30, a success. At Tuesday’s meeting, investment potential of the state was projected through a presentation.

Jaideep Dang of Oberoi group of hotels expressed his wish to open a hotel at Bhopal. Similarly, national director, Lemon Tree Hotels, Vikramjit Singh wished to open hotels at Indore and Bhopal.

Puar invited the representatives of Oberoi and Lemon Tree hotels to Bhopal and assured them all help by the state government in this regard.

Gaur also held discussions with representatives of CREDAI for investment in the urban development sector and invited them to the State. Principal Secretary, UAD SPS Parihar and State Tourism Development Corporation managing director Raghavendra Singh were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, UAD Minister Babulal Gaur has written to Railway Minister CP Joshi urging him that Shatabdi Express be run from Habibganj railway station. At present, the train originates from Bhopal railway station and goes to New Delhi.

In his letter, Gaur informed the Railway Minister that Habibganj railway station was situated in the heart of the State capital. He also told him that 80 per cent of the passengers who travelled in Shatabdi Express resided in BHEL and other areas close to Habibganj railway station. At present, these passengers have to travel for ten to 15 km to board the train at Bhopal railway station. This increases the burden on the road leading to Bhopal railway station. Passengers also face difficulties at Bhopal station due to crowding and frequency of other trains.
