CM’s campaign for reducing fertiliser prices get support from other states

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s demand to the Union Government for reduction in fertiliser prices in the larger interests of farmers has drawn support of even non-BJP ruled states’ Chief Ministers. Supporting Shri Chouhan’s stand, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Sushri Jayalalitha, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Akhilesh Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Sheela Dixit have urged the Union Government to reduce prices of fertilizer. Chief Ministers of these states have extended moral support to Shri Chouhan’s stand terming it as farmer-friendly.
It may be mentioned that in a recent personal letter, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has urged all the Union Ministers and heads of political parties to raise this anti-farmer issue in the Parliament. Expressing concern over two to three-fold increase fertiliser prices, he has urged the Union Government to reduce fertiliser prices immediately.
Shri Chouhan urged the Union Government that monthly quota of fertilizer should be released to states accepting their demand and ensure supply of fertiliser to states as per allotment of quota. He said the farmers’ condition has been deteriorating in the wake of steep increase in fertiliser prices during last one year. Farmers are now battling for survival. Farmers’ fight will have to be waged by rising above political affiliations.
