CM reaches Delhi with Khan River Cleaning Project

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will present a project of Rs. 2720 crore for cleaning of Khan river passing through middle of Indore city before the Central Government in New Delhi on September 10. Shri Chouhan has said that work on the project will be completed in 4-5 years after sanction of the project. Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Sumitra Mahajan and concerning Central Ministers will attend the meeting on Khan River Cleaning Project.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan reviewed the proposed project for cleaning of Khan river here today. The meeting was informed that filth and polluted water flow into Khan river from thousands of houses on both it banks. Saraswati and Chandrabhaga rivers also fall into it. Khan river flows into Kshipra river, which in turn links up with Ganga through Chambal and Yamuna. In this, way ill effects of pollution in this river are also cast on Khipra and Ganga.

Cleaning of Khan river is necessary for success of Ganga Cleaning Campaign. An action plan for cleaning water flowing into Khan river, its treatment for horticulture and other purposes, creating a sense of belonging to it among common people and prevention of filthy water flowing into the river was presented at the meeting. Systematic resettlement of localities on the river banks and treatment of water from Polo Ground industrial area and Sanwer falling into the river will also be included in the action plan. Apart from cleaning, the river will also be linked with Narmada-Gambhir Water Link Project to ensure continuous flow of water in it. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will attend the high-level meeting in Delhi with these proposals.
