PDS scam case being weakened: Raman

Two Chhattisgarh officials linked to the Public Distribution Scheme (PDS) scam are being protected by weakening the case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Tuesday.

The BJP has been raising the issue of PDS scam and money laundering for the last two-and-a-half years, former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said.

The two officials linked to the scam, suspended by the earlier BJP government, are working now in the government, he said.

Even after retiring, Dr Alok Shukla is the Principal Secretary on contract while Anil Tuteja is with the Industries department, Dr Raman Singh told the media.

He said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has told the Supreme Court that a conspiracy has been hatched to save the officers. The Special Investigation Team, formed by the state government, is trying to weaken the case.

Singh said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Minister T.S. Singh Deo, while in the opposition, wrote to the Prime Minister demanding an ED and a CBI investigation against the officers. But now efforts are to scuttle the case.
