CM Describes Fall in Tiger Population as Big Challenge

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the fall in tiger population registered during the last few years was posing a big challenge to the country.

On the occasion of the Wildlife Week begging from October 1, Chouhan said that conservation of wildlife, particularly the drop in tiger population, had come out as a major challenge in the country over the years.

In a message issue last minister, the chief minister said that the need of the hour was to engage the common man in wildlife conservation and enhance awareness among them for forest animals.

He also asked people to extend help and strengthen the hands of various agencies engaged in conserving wildlife.

In the meantime, Rajendra Shukla, state forest minister, inaugurated the main wildlife week function being celebrated at Van Vihar-cum-national park in Bhopal.

On the occasion, an inter-school painting competition was held at Van Vihar where a large number of participants took part. Besides, an inter-school debate competition was also held.
