CM convenes first meeting of Sub-Group on Centrally Sponsored Schemes

Bhopal: Maiden meeting of CMs’ Sub-Group on rationalisation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes to given new direction to development in the country was held at National Institute for Transforming India (NITI) in New Delhi today. The meeting under the convenership of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan constituted a working group headed by NITI’s CEO Smt. Sindhushri Khullar to chalk out further course of action of the sub-committee on the basis of Chief Ministers’ suggestions at the meeting and to prepare a draft for consideration. The working group will comprise concerning senior officers of Centre and states. This was informed by Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan after the meeting.

Shri Chouhan said that the meeting also discussed making schemes flexible as per requirement for their effective and result-oriented implementation, states’ active participation in making and proposing plans i.e. removal of tendency to impose schemes from higher level and changes likely to be made in view of increase of states’ share by Centre from 32 percent to 42 percent. Chief Ministers present at the meeting gave suggestions in the present context and requirements. Written suggestions were sent by some Chief Ministers who could not attend the meeting. Shri Chouhan said that concrete path of development will be paved in next meetings with all members’ consultation.

Chief Ministers of Arunachal, Jammu-Kashmir, Jharkhand, Nagaland and Rajasthan, Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar, NITI’s Member Shri Vivek Deboroy, Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa and concerning officers were present on the occasion.
