Better management of urbanisation possible: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that urbanisation process cannot be prevented but better management is possible. Cities become heaven with better management. He further mentioned that villages are spreading rapidly towards the cities. New challenges are emerging before the cities. Hence, there is a need to pay attention towards better urban management and planning.

CM Chouhan was releasing a book titled ‘Hamare Shahron Ka Rupantran’ of renowned economist Isher Judge Ahluwalia here on Tuesday. The book has been published by Manjul Prakashan. Former Vice Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia was present on the occasion.

Chouhan further mentioned that 22 cities of Madhya Pradesh have secured positions out of 100 cities in recently conducted sanitation survey. Indore has secured first place followed by Bhopal. Moreover, 7 cities of the state have been included in the smart city list.

Describing the importance of the book published in Hindi language, Chouhan stated that this book will prove to be a guide for urban bodies, representatives linked to management and policy makers. He said that this book will be made available for all the urban bodies.

Appreciating Madhya Pradesh for progress made by the state in the field of urban management and planning, Isher Judge Ahluwalia mentioned that the fund provided for smart city is being utilized in better way by the state. Deliberating on city bus service being provided at Indore with private and public partnership, she said that amazing work has been undertaken in Indore and Bhopal for urban transportation.
