Cleaning of lakes and ponds is necessary for clean environment : Gaur

Bhopal: Cleaning of lakes and ponds is necessary for clean environment. Cooperation of common people should be sought in this work of national importance. Urban Administration Minister Shri Babulal Gaur said this at a meeting of Jan-Abhiyan Parishad here today. The meeting was convened to discuss Parishad’s campaign to clean Bhopal’s lakes.
Shri Gaur said that if people are made aware, it will help keep lakes and ponds clean. He said that initiative will also be taken to start a state-level campaign to clean lakes and ponds. Local/urban bodies will extend optimum cooperation in this work.
It was decided at the meeting that Bhopal’s Char Imli lake will be cleaned with public cooperation on November 25 from 9.30 am. Under the campaign, cleanliness works will be carried out with public participation at Hathaikhera Dam on December 2, Kali Mandir Ghat in the Lower Lake on December 9 and Khatlapura Ghat on December 16.
Shri Raghunandan Singh Rajput “Kunnu Bhaiyya” suggested to connect office-bearers of Durga and Ganeshotsav Saimitis with this campaign. Engineer Shri Mukesh Dube informed that for cleanliness of lakes and ponds for it is necessary that polluted water from houses and other sources is treated before falling into the water bodies and use of chemical fertiliser and pesticide in agriculture in the catchment areas should be prevented.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Rajneesh Shrivastava, Superintending Engineer PWD Shri Akhilesh Upadhyay, Additional Commissioner BMC Shri J.P. Mali, Shri Umesh Sharma and Shri Navneet Ratnakar of Jan-Abhiyan Parishad and officers of the Water Resources Department were present on the occasion.
