Chief Minister undertakes aerial survey of Rs. 432 crore Narmada-Kshipra-Simhasta Link Project

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan undertook aerial survey of Rs. 432 crore Narmada-Kshipra-Simhasta Link Project today. Project’s construction is in the final stage. Shri Chouhan inspected project’s pumping stations, pipeline and structure at Ujjaini. He directed to complete remaining works of the project at the earliest and prepare for unveiling in early 2014. Shri Chouhan was accompanied by Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Shri Rajneesh Vaish and Secretary to CM Shri S.K. Mishra.

Under Narmada-Kshipra-Simhasta Link Project, the main works include lifting of 5 cumecs water from Sisliya reservoir and bring it through MS Pipes 48 kilometers away to originating point of Kshipra river at village Ujjaini from where water will be flowed into Kshipra river.

It is noteworthy that foundation stone for this ambitious Rs. 432 crore project to link was laid by former Deputy Prime Minister Shri Lal Krishna Advani at village Ujjaini, 22 kms from Indore, which is originating point of Kshipra river, on November 29, 2012. Thus, the project is being completed in a record time.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan had endorsed construction works of the project on August 8, 2012. Sanction was granted to construction agency at the 43rd meeting of Narmada Control Board on August 27, 2012 after inviting tenders. Administrative sanction to the project was accorded on October 19, 2012 and agreement for work was signed on November 5, 2012.

Narmada-Kshipra-Simhasta Link Project: In the first phase, Narmada water will be released from Omkareshwar project’s Sisliya reservoir into Kshipra river. In next phases, Narmada water will be lifted from Maheshwar and released into Gambhir river, from Indira Sagar reservoir into Kali Sindh river and Parwati river. After completion, the project will irrigate 17 lakh hectare in Malwa region. Besides, Malwa’s drinking water problem will also be solved permanently. Narmada water will satiate thirst of 70 towns and 3000 villages in Malwa region. Water will also be available to hundreds of exiting and future industries leading to speedy industrial development of Malwa region.
