Chief Minister spends day with Army jawans at jaisalmer
Jaisalmer: The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan spent today with the army jawans deployed on Indo-Pak border in Jaisalmer district of Rajsthan. He interacted with them and apprised himself of their daily routine.
The Chief Minister visited the Tanot Mata temple at village Tanot about 120 km from Jaisalmer on Indo-Pak border. Once the capital of Bhati Rajput King Tanu Rao, Tanot has the temple dedicated to Tanaut Devi said to be an incarnation of Hinglaj Devi. It is a great source of inspiration for troops of BSF as well as army due to miracle that happened during 1965 Indo-Pak war. It is said that in the month of October 1965 Pak the area where the temple is located could not be overrun despite heavy pounding by Arty and fierc3e fighting. Pak army fired more than 3,000 shells in the area around temple but due to divine power it is said that most of the shell went blind and whatsoever exploded could not cause much damage.
Since then this temple came into prominence and its popularity spread over other region also. Again in 1971 when Pak army launched sudden attack in Longewala in the night of 4th December, due to inspiration and spiritual strength along with one coy of BSF repulsed their attack which is a unique operation in the world history of battles. Longowala is called as a graveyard of Pak tanks where their entire tank regiment was made to bit the dust. Longowala Vijay Memorial has been constructed at the entrance of the temple.
The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid floral tribute at this memorial. The people of the villages around the temple and the jawans of Indian army consider the temple as a Panauti or curse for Pakistan and lucky or boon for themselves.
