Chargesheet filed in case of violation of code of conduct at Baba Ramdev’s programme at Betul

Bhopal: Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has described as baseless news published in a section of the press that the CEO Office and Betul Collector have not taken any action in case of violation of model code of conduct by Baba Ramdev in Betul during Vidhan Sabha elections. In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, the CEO Office and Betul Collector have given details about action taken so far in the case of violation of model code of conduct at Baba Ramdev’s programme during last Vidhan Sabha elections.

In the letter sent today by the collector, he said that he has come to know through some newspapers that no action has been taken regarding violation of model code of conduct at the abovementioned function. The collector informed that not only case number 1038/13 was registered by Kotwali police station on the complaint of district Congress President Shri Sameer Khan under section 188 of IPC, but chargesheet in the case has also been filed in the court of chief judicial magistrate.

After publication of the news today, Office of the Chief Electoral Officer once again sought fresh information about the cases from Betul Collector and sent the same through e-mail to Election Commission. Besides, copies of case no. 1028/13 dated 2/11/12 under Betul Kotwali police station and case no. 745/13 dated 25/10/13 under various sections registered by Multai police station have also been sent. In this way, office of the Chief Electoral Officer sent collector’s report to the commission first in November 2013 and again now.
