Central Bank Chairman in City Today

Chairman & Managing Director of Central Bank of India S Sridhar is today visiting Bhopal.

He, along with chief secretary Avani Vaish, will co-chair the 139th meeting of State Level Bankers’ Committee to be held in the Bank’s Zonal Office on the said date.

Educated at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and a Certificated Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, Sridhar possesses rich and varied experience in Banking in a career spanning about 36 years since he started his professional journey as a Probationary Officer with State Bank of India in the year 1973.

Rising through the ranks, Sridhar moved to Export Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) as its Executive Director where he worked for 5 years.

Thereafter, in April, 2006, he took over as Chairman & Managing Director of National Housing Bank, a post he held till his appointment as Chairman & Managing Director of Central Bank of India .

It was during his tenure with the apex housing bank that the Reverse Mortgage Scheme – a loan product which allowed senior citizens to receive monthly income from their homes even as they continued to occupy it, and the country’s first Residential Price Index were launched.
