CBI raids eight places in MP

BHOPAL: On Tuesday CBI sleuths raided eight places in Madhya Pradesh in connection with the alleged irregularities by some railway officials in coal transportation resulting in a loss of Rs 40 lakh to the railways.
Sources said, the raids were conducted at four places in Rewa, three places in Jabalpur and one place in Bhopal.

Two senior railway official’s residence was raided in Bhopal and Jabalpur.

The railway officials allegedly favoured this Cement Company in Rewa in coal transportation and inflicted a loss of around Rs 40 lakh during the period 2007-2009.

A total of fourteen rail rakes laden with coal were transported to the cement factory during the period. During the raids, the CBI sleuths seized a haul of documents related to the case. The raids were on; the CBI officials said adding that they initiated action following a tip off.

West Central Railways Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO) Piyush Mathur said that he has come to know that some files have been seized by the CBI from the offices in Jabalpur.

CBI official said, under section 120 B and 420 of the IPC and relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, a case has been registered against the accused in connection with the case.
