Campaign for recharging 50 dried up rivers

BHOPAL: The program for recharging dried up rivers by the government has yielded fruitful results. The scheme has implemented with the participation of peoples. Ramkola River in Khargone district, Jamad River in Ratlam district and Midhasan River in Panna district has got a new life with these schemes.

With the recharging of river the groundwater level in areas adjoining areas has alo increase. This also increased the irrigated land which further results in increased production. So far government has spent Rs. 1,056 crore on the project out of which the contribution of public was Rs. 10 crore.

The fifty river under th eproject includes th eareas Padmavati in Jhabua district, Ramkola in Khargone district, Kanai in Dindori district, Midhasan in Panna, Shyamri in Chhatarpur, Poorna in Betul, Sagar River in Seoni, Nalchha River in Dhar, Dev in Barwani, Tendauni in Raisen, Umrar in Umaria, Kopra in Damoh, Kaldhai in Khandwa, Dohi in Alirajpur, Garhganga in Rajgarh, Bhatan in Shajapur, Katni river in Katni, Jamad in Ratlam, Pathrai in Chhindwara, Bakan in Anuppur and Kshipra river in Indore district. Similar efforts have been started to recharge Kanwari River in Morena district, Boorh in Guna, Hiran in Jabalpur, Seengri in Narsinghpur, Parvati in Shivpuri, Kolans in Bhopal, Sindh in Vidisha, Borkheri in Neemuch, Mithiya in Burhanpur, Seenp in Sheopur, Anhori in Datia, Kolans in Sehore, Kukra in Mandsaur, Gaderi in Sagar, Halphal in Shahdol, Leelath in Ashok Nagar, Mahuar in Gwalior, Paryati in Dewas and Tannaur river in Balaghat district.

The government is providing a conducive environment for the implementation of the scheme. Under the scheme Jalabhishek Sammelans are held and Jal-Yatras taken out for linking people with the campaign and creating mass awareness in the areas covered under it. Peedhi Jal Samvad (Generation Water Dialogue) has also proved to be helpful in this campaign.
